Because not everyone has exactly the same setup, there can sometimes be some issues installing, configuring and running meteor on your htpc. There are generally some pretty simple explanations for most issues, so check out the faq. If that fails, then there are some steps to follow to get us the information we need to help you out.
Windows Phone 7 seems to have a problem on some networks where it can't find computers by their name. Instead, you can enter the IP address of the computer. If that still doesn't work, let us know!
Well, I'd like to say that I was asleep one night and was visited by a giant flaming turtle who told me that we should name our application in tribute to the Willamette Meteorite; the largest meteorite found in North America and that it came down to a single vote between its final name and "Willy". Unfortunately, that wouldn't exactly be true. The real reason lies in the less awesome fact that Meteor is an anagram of "remote" and it ended up being a codename that survived into release.
Yes! You can install the Meteor Hub service on both WHS v1 and WHS 2011.
Yes, Meteor will work with extenders.
Meteor currently supports English and German. If you'd like to help by translating Meteor into another language, let us know!
Yes! See here for instructions on how to set it up.
Not just yet, but we do have plans to implement this functionality in a version not too far away - stay tuned!
Only if you want to use the remote access or notification features.
For music and recorded TV, Meteor uses the Windows Media Player libraries. For videos, Meteor looks at all the folders in the Windows Videos library. If you have Media Browser installed, it will also look in any folders configured in Media Browser.
Please see this page for more information on how to set up your environment properly.
Meteor uses the same files used by Media Browser (metadata.xml) and fetched by programs such as Metabrowser and MediaScout. If this stuff isn't found, Meteor will do its best impression of a wizard and attempt to parse your files directly; but this is not ideal. Alternatively, as of version 1.2 Meteor can find this metadata itself - go here to see how to set it up!
If you have metadata that isn't showing up properly in Meteor, it would be good to have an example of how your metadata files are set up, and maybe a sample of the metadata so we can see how to fix it. Send your information to support and we'll do our best to try and fix your problem.
Glad you asked - see this page for instructions.
When you press the power button, Meteor does whatever your computer is set up to do when you press the physical power button on your HTPC. So, to change what the power button does in Meteor you can change that setting in Windows. You can find it by searching for "power" in the start menu, then choose "Change what the power buttons do", then change the action specified for "When I press the power button".
If none of the suggestions work and you still have problems installing, running or connecting to your meteor service, then we need to get some more information from you. Follow these steps:
Create a zipped archive of the C:\ProgramData\LandDolphin\MeteorHub folder.
Create a zipped archive of the C:\Users\[Current User]\AppData\Local\LandDolphin\Meteor folder.
Email these files to support along with your system's current locale and whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit.
